Course overview

Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), is a method of demonstrating a product or process is production ready. The method was initially developed by the North American Automotive Industry and has now been adopted as best practice the Aerospace industry.

Directly linked to the Adavanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process, a PPAP submission allows the supply organisation to demonstrate to their customer, through the provision of documented evidence, that they understand the customer’s product requirements and specifications and that they have designed a process which has the potential to supply product at the required quality and rate under normal production conditions.

AS9145

This standard establishes requirements for performing and documenting APQP and PPAP. APQP begins with conceptual product needs and extends through product definition, production planning, product and process validation (i.e., PPAP), product use, and post-delivery service. This standard integrates and collaborates with the requirements of the 9100, 9102, 9103, and 9110 standards.

The APQP aspects of this standard define a methodology for ensuring that the product development processes deployed throughout the aviation, space, and defense industries are fully integrated phased processes that extend from concept and design through manufacturing process planning and execution, and on into product use, service, and customer feedback.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for Implementation Teams, including members of the cross-functional team; Internal Auditors and others who are involved in the implementation or auditing of PPAP. Familiarity with APQP and related Core Tools would be beneficial but not necessary.

Benefits and Learning Objectives

Production Part Approval Process is often mandated by aerospace and other engineering primary manufacturers as a specific requirement on their suppliers to give them assurance that the supplier understands the customers product specifications and that the suppliers manufacturing process has the potential to produce good quality product at agreed quality levels and production rates.

Companies that apply PPAP as the culmination of APQP, gain greater customer confidence in their ability to introduce new products and processes or make changes to existing products & processes.

Delegates will become competent in implementing and auditing PPAP and the creation of PPAP submission packages and learn how PPAP is an integral part of the APQP process.

Topics covered

  • Overview of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Linkage with th Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process
  • Detailed review of the 11 required elements for PPAP
  • PPAP Submission level
  • PPAP Disposition

Certification

Upon completion of the course you will receive an Industry Forum certificate of attendance.
