Managing Supply Chain Disruption – 20th May 2015

Are disruptive forces impacting your supply chain clearly known and assessed? Do you have critical suppliers that are creating unreasonable risk? Does your supply chain need to be restructured to minimise risk?

Supply Chain Management [SCM] is a vital component of the overall strategy of a company. More and more we see and hear Supply Chains being discussed on mainstream media.  Often, breakdown in a supply chain is cited as the reason why a business has got into difficulties, and is now having to take drastic, unpleasant actions to recover.  Why do Supply Chains struggle?  It is suggested that they operate in a VUCA world:

V – Volatile, variable

U – Uncertain, unpredictable, unstable

C – Complex

A – Ambiguous

All of these, and more, are the culprits for disruption in our Supply Chains, yet we are still expected to deliver to plan, and generate profit for the company and stakeholders.

Some of these disruptions are massive, clear and visible; a recovery project can be put in place, which may take time, but should be effective.

Other disruptions are less obvious, somewhat invisible and it is likely that all stakeholders will not be aware of them.  These are the ones that we need to recognise and begin to address.

This webinar discussed the various forms that these disruptions take and assess their impact upon the attendees’ Supply Chains. It provided suggested actions that can be taken to minimise the underlying causes and effects and start to improve Supply Chain performance.

Effective closure of system related non-conformities – 16th April 2015

With certification schemes such as the global specification ISO/TS16949 for the automotive industry, there is increasing pressure on organisations to apply effective problem solving techniques to address internal and external system related non-conformities. Failure to do this effectively and prevent reoccurrence can result in organisations losing their certification. While many organisations have effective techniques for solving product related complaints and non-conformities, they do not effectively apply the same techniques to system issues.

This webinar focussed on:

  • The rules related to nonconformity closure
  • Techniques that can be used to find the root cause of issues
  • Show worked examples of both good and bad application
  • Give auditors guidance on what to look for

How to reduce costs by the effective application of Measurement System Analysis – 11th March 2015

In many suppliers the use of the automotive core tools, including Measurement System Analysis is mandated either by standards such as ISO/TS16949 or by customer specific requirements. Howeve,r many suppliers simply fill in the forms without understanding the results of realising any real benefits.

This webinar focussed on the link between calibration and measurement system analysis and how effective use of MSA data can help reduce calibration costs, reduce the amount of nonconforming product and reduce risk in the event of equipment being damaged during use.

New Product Introduction (NPI) – 5th November 2014

Are your new product introductions struggling to achieve budget, timing and quality targets? Do you find cross-functional teamwork is limited, with new products “thrown over the wall” to production to have to pick up the pieces under extreme time pressure?

The Industry Forum approach to NPI is based around tried and tested principles and tools capable of being applied to manufacturing companies working in all types of industries from low to high volume situations.

Using multi-industry experience, a comprehensive assessment has been developed to help companies identify the gaps between their current status and best practice performance to prepare for the development of a structured cross-functional programme targeted at NPI process improvement.

Our approach starts by understanding the organisation’s ability to structure and manage NPI programmes and tailors a support plan to build capability to deliver effective and efficient products.

The webinar looks at:

  • NPI principles and tools relevant to all industries
  • Application of NPI tools to low volume and single product manufacture
  • The difference between NPI and project management
  • The Industry Forum NPI Effectiveness Assessment
  • Typical tailored support programmes to deliver NPI process development tools
