Course Overview: 

This is a 3-day course delivered in partnership with Horiba-Mira. This practical course will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to perform safety analysis as part of an ISO26262 product development.

On Day 1 we’ll give an introduction to the role of safety analysis in ISO26262, then cover design failure mode and effects analysis (dfMEA).  We’ll explain the basics of FMEA and conduct a series of exercises adopting a structured, multi-step approach to FMEA.

On Day 2 we’ll cover fault tree analysis (FTA), introducing the basic concepts and principles of FTA and describe the process of developing FTAs to support the requirements of ISO26262 Part 4 and 5.  We’ll also cover the differences between qualitative and quantitative FTAs in the context of ISO26262 and conduct structured exercises to demonstrate the principles of FTA when used to support ISO26262.

On Day 3 we’ll cover both ISO26262 hardware metrics and dependent failure analysis (DFA).  The ISO26262 hardware metrics section will cover the single point fault metrics (SPFM), latent fault metric (LFM) and the two methods for evaluating safety goal violation due to random hardware failures.  The DFA section will describe the process of performing a DFA to support the requirements of ISO26262 Part 4.
