Japan Best Practice Programme, November/December 2010
Overview
The Japanese industry has spent decades refining their approach to manufacturing process control and has deservedly gained worldwide recognition as leaders in Quality, Cost and Delivery performance.
This programme allows delegates to experience first-hand what the best Japanese companies are doing and how they are achieving their international reputation.
Key Objectives of the Programme
- Through a series of carefully selected company visits delegates will be shown many examples of the application of the techniques of process improvement.
- Special emphasis will be given to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) with visits to the TPM Excellence Award winning companies
- During the programme Japanese experts in process improvement methodologies will provide the delegates with lectures and opportunities for questions and answers.
- The comprehensive business travel package will include; return flights to Japan, top class Western hotel in Tokyo, business travel arrangements in Japan, interpreters and the support of experienced British and Japanese staff throughout the programme.
Delegate Level
- It is expected that delegates will be in senior positions of influence within their organisations so lessons learned may be converted into change programmes on return. Ideally delegates will be Managing Directors, Plant Managers or Operations Directors.
- Above members may wish to be supported by staff who have responsibility for leading change programmes, as they will see how company policy is implemented through practical shopfloor actions.
- Senior figures in the Education sector will benefit by observing how staff development is conducted in the Japanese industry and how this is key to their phenomenal success.
Programme Structure
The programme will comprise of the following:
- A half-day briefing session prior to departure
- Orientation/ welcome evening on arrival in Japan
- Opening briefing at the British Embassy, Tokyo
- A series of carefully selected company visits including Toyota and suppliers in the automotive industry
- Themed lectures from subject matter experts including TPM
- Group discussions/reviews at the end of the programme
Dates for November/December 2010 programme are:
- Outward: Depart Friday 26th November
- Return: Depart Narita (Tokyo) Saturday 4th December
