JM Automactics

Lee Remfry of GKN Portsmouth congratulates Clive Harris and the
JM Automatics team for delivering the parts right first time, at ‘warp speed’
and at a very competitive price.

GKN Portsmouth discuss a sketch of a new concept for a critical fuel control valve with J M Automatics.

Having developed a close partnership with GKN Portsmouth, JMA are confident of receiving an order.

In anticipation of that order JMA use their sourcing expertise to obtain material. They also complete the design for manufacture, taking full advantage of their competitive methods.

On Friday Darren designs and manufactures a low cost fixture to hold the block material in the most advantageous orientation for cost effective machining and programmed plate manufacture.

Meanwhile Tony is developing a low waste block machining programme. He knows that when the order comes he will have only one working day in which to produce 60 sets of parts.

4 samples are made and delivered to GKN for evaluation.

After assembly and performance trials, GKN are completely satisfied with the result.

At 2 PM the goahead is given for 57 sets of parts to be delivered by 7th June.

The blocks and plates are completed and ready for collection by 3.30 PM on 6th June 25 hours later.
