Introduction
The role of the Team Leader (first line manager) is pivotal to the success of any organisation.
Typical team leader roles include:
- Health and Safety
- Managing the input resources
- Ensuring conformance to standardised processes
- Monitoring outputs and driving improvement
Most team leaders have progressed within an organisation. When they become team leaders it is essential that they are provided with the skills and capability to lead their areas effectively in support of the organisations strategic objectives.
What is Enhanced Team Leader Training?
Industry Forum has developed the 'hands on' Enhanced Team Leader Training programme to provide organisations with first line management teams who are genuinely able to lead their teams.
The team leader training combines theory with practical application to ensure team leaders have both the knowledge and application experience required to undertake their roles. It is underpinned by assessment to the NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques at level 3 to provide a demonstrated, nationally recognised qualification to assess and recognise their capability.
The Enhanced Team Leader Training programme follows the structure below.

The delivery phases are separated by three to four week gaps to allow time for the candidates to apply the learning in their own place of work, generating evidence and delivering Quality Cost and Delivery impact.
During the activity the candidates will be trained in:
- Health and Safety
- Contributing to effective team working and leading effective teams
- Workplace organisation (5C/5S)
- Continuous improvement techniques
- Applying visual management systems
- Analysing and selecting areas for improvement
- Creating standard operating procedures
- Problem Solving techniques

We have seen the benefits of Industry Forum engineers working on our site before.
This time we took the opportunity of getting more of what they did in terms of improved QCD and learning how to do it ourselves.
This is access to someone who knows how other businesses operate.
