An employer-led, UK wide charity owned by industry, it has been licensed by the Secretary of State for Education and Skills and is regulated by the Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA) to drive forward the effort to improve the UK’s productivity through improvements in its sector’s skills base.


SEMTA represents the sectors of:

Aerospace
Electrical engineering
Electronics, including semi-conductors
Mechanical engineering and metal trades
Motor vehicles
Shipbuilding
Bio technology
Nano technology
Mathematics
Forensic science

All manufacturing organisations operating in the above sectors are members of SEMTA and the benefits of membership are available to them without the need for a subscription rate.

SMMT Industry Forum works closely with SEMTA in a number of areas such as NVQs and vocational GCSEs.
