Careers Village 2006

The Careers Village will run for the whole show, giving all 500,000 expected visitors the chance to get involved. This exciting new area will provide all the information and guidance needed by students, school leavers, graduates or adult jobseekers looking for a new challenge.

The Careers Village will give visitors the chance to learn more about modern automotive technology through a range of interactive displays as well as by offering live internet access to develop their skills through the latest learning experiences. Experts from all levels and sectors of the industry will be on hand to chat to visitors to give practical advice on every facet of the industry - from manufacturing and engineering to science and research, from management, sales, maintenance and repair to technical accreditation.

The Careers Village initiative is being led by the SMMT (The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Limited), Automotive Skills and imie (the Motor Show organisers), with the support of a coalition of key industry bodies comprising the Automotive Academy, City & Guilds, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), the Learning Grid, SEMTA and SMMT Industry Forum.

Motor Show organiser, Kirsty Adams said: 'This is a great opportunity to use the new style motor show to demonstrate the wide variety of career opportunities in the UK motor industry. People don't fully realise what a vibrant industry it is and it’s important to encourage new people to think about joining us, whether in manufacturing, retail, maintenance or repair. The Careers Village will do just that!'
