Hi-Finish casting is a growing West Midlands company supplying various market sectors within the UK & Europe. As a primary manufacturer Hi-Finish Casting produces Zinc & Aluminium die-cast products and surface coatings in Chrome, Powder Coating and Lacquering. Established in 1920, the company’s core business is predominantly as a second tier supplier to the automotive sector. Other sectors serviced include, Domestic, Electrical, Hardware and General Engineering.

Before initiating the RaPP Programme, there was no structured plan for purchasing.
Overall savings opportunity of 1.83% identified between direct material savings, overheads and process improvements. This gave a potential impact on profitability of 46%

Consumables suppliers were reduced from 14 to 1, single monthly invoicing has reduced consumables invoices to one per month, reducing admin costs. Cash flow
improved through introduction of consignment stock.
Cost saving of between 2 to 5 % was generally achieved through the introduction of the single source consumables supplier. Implementation of new vendor rating system. Supplier performance has improved by up to 15% in a number of cases and a consolidation of supplier numbers achieved. KPI’s were introduced into purchasing focussing on cash flow, stock reduction, purchasing savings. This has resulted in clear bottom line benefits.
