Lean Assessment

Are you wondering how lean your workplace is? You may have been implementing improvement activities for some time and are now questioning if their implementation has been effective and if you are achieving the maximum impact.

How can you judge or measure it? Are some aspects better than others? Are you improving over time?

The Lean Assessment provides an objective assessment of the current level of process stability, process improvement and the extent to which people are committed and engaged in those activities.

The assessment takes place over the course of one day and consists of two key phases:

  • Direct observation of the work place with the team leader or area manager
  • Interviews with key team members form the workplace

At the end of the assessment the assessor runs a feedback session for your management team and the people who have been involved over the course of the day.

There are two key parts to the feedback:

  • The results of the assessment
  • The implementation plan

The assessor will give you the assessment results and then guide you and your team to lay the foundation of an Implementation Plan, to maximise the opportunities for improvement.

If you are working to achieve the requirements of ISO/TS16949, using the Lean Area Assessment fulfils the requirements of 8.2.2.2, “The organisation shall audit each manufacturing process to determine its effectiveness”.
